Northampton Town vs Carlisle United Preview, Tips & Stats

Carlisle United make the trip to Sixfields Stadium to take on Northampton Town this Saturday in League One. Northampton look to close in on the chasing pack for the Play-offs whereas Carlisle aim to reel in the rest of the relegation zone.

Northampton Town currently sit 11th in League One after 42 games. The Cobblers have 16 wins, eight draws and 18 losses, leaving them on 56 points, 11 points from the Play-offs.

In their last five games in all competitions, Northampton have two wins and three losses.

Matthew Pennington scored the only goal of the game early in the second half to give Blackpool the 1 - 0 win, with Northampton having just two shots on target. Though The Cobblers did get more shots on target against Wycombe, a brace from Matt Butcher in the second half gave Wycombe the 2 - 0 win and all three points.

Northampton were finally back to winning ways against a high-flying Derby County. Sam Hoskins scored the only goal of the game in the 23rd minute as Sonny Bradley was sent off in the tenth minute of added time to give Northampton the 1 - 0 win over ten-man Derby. Despite that big win, Northampton were on the wrong side of a 1 - 0 scoreline against Reading. The last time out for Northampton was against Port Vale. The Cobblers bounced back, with Mitch Pinnock scoring in the first half and Shaun Mcwilliams finding the back of the net in the 94th minute for the 2 - 0 win.

Carlisle, on the other hand, currently sit bottom of the League One table. In 41 games, Carlisle have six wins, nine draws and 26 losses which leaves them on 27 points, seven points from 23rd Fleetwood.

In their last five games in all competitions, Carlisle have one win, one draw and three losses.

Daniel Udoh scored the only goal of the game for Shrewsbury Town in the 40th minute to give them the 1 - 0 win over Carlisle.
Butterworth was on the scoresheet again for Carlisle, scoring twice to give them the lead going into the later stages of the game. However, an 82nd minute penalty from Alex MacDonald and a 96th minute goal from Terence Vancooten rescued the 2 - 2 draw for Stevenage. Carlisle bounced back with a big win over Peterborough. A hat-trick from Jon James Alexander Mellish gave Carlisle the 3 - 1 win over The Posh, who had Joel Randall on the scoresheet.
