Marko Arnautovic West Ham

Alvaro Fernandez - Huesca to Brentford (loan)

This summer Brentford completed the signing of Spain international goalkeeper from Huesca following their relegation from La Liga last season. He played in Spain’s 4-0 friendly win against Lithuania in June and became the first-ever Huesca player to represent the Spanish national side at senior level.

The 23-year-old shot-stopper has signed on loan until the end of the season, with the Bees having an option to buy on the Spaniard who will be looking to compete with fellow countryman David Raya for the number one jersey at the Brentford Community Stadium.

Christos Tzolis - PAOK to Norwich

19-year-old Christos Tzolis recently moved from Greek outfit PAOK to Norwich City for a rumoured fee of around £10m.

Tzolis has already made a name for himself back in his homeland having already made eight caps for his country, scoring his first international goal in a 2-1 friendly win over Cyprus last November. The Thessaloniki born winger made 42 league appearances for PAOK, scoring seven times and made his Premier League debut as a substitute on the opening weekend in a 3-0 defeat to Liverpool.

Yoanne Wissa - Lorient to Brentford

Another Brentford signing that has gone relatively unnoticed so far is that of Yoanne Wissa for a reported fee of £8.5m.

The 24-year-old DR Congo international comes to the Bees after a successful three-year spell at Lorient where he scored 35 times in 117 appearances, helping them earn promotion from Ligue 2 to Ligue 1 in the 2019/20 season with 15 goals in 28 matches, before helping his former club consolidate themselves in the French top-flight.

Asmir Begovic – Bournemouth to Everton

Everton signed experienced Bosnia goalkeeper Asmir Begovic on a free transfer from Bournemouth this summer, following the Cherries failure to be promoted via the playoffs in the Championship.

The 34-year-old played 45 times in the second-tier of English football last season and kept 15 clean sheets, demonstrating why he has had prolonged spells in the Premier League with the likes of Portsmouth, Stoke City and Chelsea all on his CV.

Mamadou Sakho – Crystal Palace to Montpellier

Crystal Palace released more than 10 first-team players in the summer as Patrick Vieira and the club are looking to revamp their squad which was the oldest in the Premier League.

Mamadou Sakho decided to go back to his homeland to sign for Montpellier upon the expiry of his contract at Selhurst Park, just four years after joining from Liverpool for £26m. The 31-year-old Parisian had a fairly injury-prone spell with the Eagles, making 72 league appearances since joining on loan in January 2017.

Patrick van Aanholt – Crystal Palace to Galatasaray

Another player to leave Selhurst Park to start a new chapter in their career is Holland international left-back Patrick van Aanholt. The 30-year-old had become a fixture in Palace’s starting line-ups during four and a half seasons at the club, but upon the expiry of his contract following the Eagles ambitions to re-build their squad he joined Turkish giants Galatasaray on a free transfer.

Wayne Hennessey – Crystal Palace to Burnley

Wales international shot-stopper Wayne Hennessey is another notable name that was released by Palace in the summer. The 34-year-old has 96 caps to his name and made 110 league appearances at Selhurst Park between 2014 and 2021 but struggled to regain his place in the side upon the form of Vicente Guaita and an array of injuries.

On 20th July, Hennessey joined fellow Premier League outfit Burnley to give competition to Nick Pope and to allow the likes of Bailey Peacock-Farrell to go out on loan to Sheffield Wednesday.

Matt Ryan – Brighton & Hove Albion to Real Sociedad

In early July Real Sociedad announced the signing of Brighton goalkeeper Matt Ryan for an undisclosed fee, seeing the Australia international goalkeeper end his four-year spell at the Amex Stadium.

The 29-year-old had spent the second half of last season on loan at Arsenal having lost his starting place with the Seagulls to Robert Sanchez following 121 league appearances. This will be the second time that Ryan has played in Spain having been part of Valencia’s squad between 2015 and 2017.

Axel Tuanzebe – Manchester United to Aston Villa (loan)

This summer Axel Tuanzebe completed a loan move back to Aston Villa where he had previously spent two loan spells at between 2018 and 2019, playing a major part in the Villains promotion back to the Premier League in 2019.

The 23-year-old made nine league appearances last season and struggled to show consistency, having put in a tremendous display for the Red Devils away at PSG in the Champions League group stages when they won 2-1. Tuanzebe’s future has been tied down at Old Trafford though, as he signed a new two-year contract with an option of an extra year prior to his departure.

Connor Gallagher – Chelsea to Crystal Palace (loan)

Connor Gallagher joined Palace on loan from Chelsea this summer on a one-year deal, which sees him reunited with former Blues teammate Marc Guehi who left Stamford Bridge on a permanent transfer this summer.

21-year-old Gallagher spent last season on loan at West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League and impressed across his 30 appearances despite the Baggies relegation and is expected to play a big role in Palace’s squad regeneration this season.

Marco Arnautovic – Shanghai Port – Bologna

Former Stoke City and West Ham United forward Marco Arnautovic is another player on the move this summer, having left Chinese Super League club Shanghai Port following 19 goals in 33 matches to join Serie A outfit Bologna.

The 32-year-old has already made his debut for Bologna, in a 5-4 Coppa Italia defeat to Ternana, scoring in the 54th minute of the match.

Radja Nainggolan – Inter Milan to Royal Antwerp

Former Belgium international Radja Nainggolan made his return to the Belgian Pro League to play for Royal Antwerp in the 2021/22 season. The 33-year-old had been playing in Italy since 2006, making move to the likes of Roma and Inter Milan. He has spent the last two seasons out on loan at Cagliari where he played before joining Roma in 2014.

This summer following a financial crisis at Inter, Nainggolan and the club parted ways with the 33-year-old’s contract being mutually terminated, seeing him join Antwerp on a two-year deal.

Mario Balotelli – Monza to Adana Demirspor

Newly promoted Turkish Super Lig club Adana Demirspor have made some noise across the world by signing former Inter Milan and Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli. The Italian is joining a whole host of recognisable names at the club in Britt Assombalonga, Gokhan Inler, Benjamin Stambouli, Birkir Bjarnason and Younes Belhanda.

The Italian signed from Serie B outfit Monza following five goals in 12 appearances in the second half of last season and will be looking to settle down and showcase his talents at the age of 31.

Patrick Cutrone – Wolverhampton Wanderers to Empoli (loan)

Wolves forward Patrick Cutrone has gone on his third loan spell since joining the club from AC Milan in July 2019.

The 23-year-old has signed for newly promoted Serie A outfit Empoli after enduring two miserable loan spells at Fiorentina and Valencia that saw him managed just four league goals in 37 matches, to add to the two he scored at Wolves.

Yoshinori Muto – Newcastle United to Vissel Kobe

The final player on this list is another striker that had a less than successful spell in the Premier League in Yoshinori Muto.

Muto managed just one league goal in 25 Premier League appearances for the Toon Army between 2018 and 2021 which came in his side’s 3-2 defeat away at Manchester United, with his goal giving the Magpies a two-goal lead. The Japan international spent last season on loan at Eibar where he managed to hit the back of the net once in 26 matches before returning to Japan to play for Vissel Kobe earlier this month.
