In the 2018/19 Europa League, Arsenal were the runners-up in the Europa League as they were beaten by rivals, Chelsea. On the road to that final, Unai Emery’s side topped their group on 16 points suffering one draw to Sporting Lisbon. In the knockout stages, they faced tough sides of Napoli and Valencia who both are strong in their leagues, coming through in style.
Last season, however, Arsenal were knocked out of the cup at the round of 16 stage, as they were beaten by Olympiacos on away goals.
Despite their knockout, Arsenal has looked a much stronger side under Mikel Arteta ever since and claiming an FA Cup, Community Shield and victories over Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City have been massive steps towards cementing themselves as a European giant once more.
