2022 Ballon d’Or Odds

Karim Benzema finished fourth in the 2021 Ballon d’Or after Real Madrid won their 34th league title, with Benzema finishing the campaign with 23 goals in La Liga.

The Frenchman has 25 goals and 11 assists in his 29 games in La Liga, with Real Madrid, sat at the top of the table with 15 points between them and rivals Barcelona. In fact, Benzema has 39 goals in 40 games in all competitions this season.

However, his performances in the Champions League has proven him as one of the best strikers in Europe, with Premier League leaders Manchester City to come in the Semi-Finals.

In nine appearances in the Champions League, Benzema has 12 goals, including a hat-trick at Stamford Bridge and an extra-time winner in the home leg of the Quarter Final against defending champions, Chelsea.

In his 30 Premier League appearances this season Mohamed Salah has scored 22 making him the current top scorer in the league. Salah also joins his Liverpool teammate Trent Alexander-Arnold at the top of the assist charts in the Premier League with 12.

The Egyptian, who just narrowly missed out on triumph in the African Cup of Nations, losing on penalties to Senegal in the Final, looks to improve on his seventh-place finish in the 2021 Ballon d’Or ranking.

Liverpool are second in the Premier League, only a point behind Manchester City with six games and everything to play for. However, Salah and Liverpool do already have silverware this season, a penalties win over Chelsea at Wembley sealing the League Cup for Liverpool. The Reds meet Chelsea again in the FA Cup Final and face Villarreal in the Champions League Semi-Finals.

Last time out for the Ballon d’Or, Kevin De Bruyne placed eighth in the ranking after an impressive 2020/21 season with Manchester City winning the Premier League and League Cup and reaching the final of the Champions League.

However, this season, the Belgian has 15 goals and 12 assists to his name so far in the 2021/22 season and looks better than ever. Manchester City are once again in the title race, battling with rivals Liverpool at the top of the Premier League, with De Bruyne being one of the most important figures in Pep Guardiola’s team.

Despite City crashing out of the FA Cup after a 3 - 2 loss to Liverpool, Guardiola’s team are still in the last four of the Champions League with clashes against Real Madrid to come and currently sit top of the table by a single point.

The French star has 33 goals in all competitions for PSG this season, with the Parisian team sitting top of Ligue 1, 13 points clear of second-place Marseille. Mbappe also has nine goals for France, who he will be hoping to help to another World Cup victory after their triumph in 2018.

Despite PSG looking sure to win their domestic league, they crashed out of the Coupe de France to Nice on penalties. PSG’s ongoing quest for the Champions League once again fell short, this time at the Round of 16 stage against Real Madrid.

The tie at the Santiago Bernabeu was somewhat embarrassing for PSG, but Mbappe proved his class with a goal in both matches, putting on impressive displays for his potential new teammates and supporters.

After the absence of the Ballon d’Or in 2020, where most believe Robert Lewandowski should’ve been awarded the honour, the Pole has continued his record-breaking form into the 2021/22 season.

Bayern Munich won the Bundesliga for a 10th time in a row at the weekend, following their 3-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund, aided by Lewandowski’s 33 goals in the 31 games he has played in the league.

The Pole actually has 47 goals in 42 games in all competitions, a staggering number, especially for a player whose team has just crashed out of the Champions League after a somewhat unlikely loss to Villarreal. Lewandowski could also add to his yearly tally with Poland at the World Cup, with their group consisting of Argentina, Saudi Arabia and Mexico.
