Cristiano Ronaldo has recently broken the record of Josef Biscan to become the highest-scoring footballer of all time at the age of 37, scoring a total of 807 goals in his illustrious career so far.

Ronaldo has found the net in the four different countries he has played in, whether that being as a teenage winger for Sporting Lisbon, an up and coming star for Manchester United, a global phenom for Real Madrid, or a goal poacher for Juventus and return for United.

At 37-years-old, Ronaldo still has time left in the game, and whether that be staying in the top five European Leagues, back in Portugal with Sporting or somewhere out of Europe, he still has the potential to add a lot more goals to his tally.

Josef Biscan isn’t a household name, but the Austrian has one of the best goalscoring careers of all time in a playing career that spanned from 1931-to 1957.

Only some of Biscan’s games are recognised by FIFA, but in those that are counted, he scored 805 goals in just 539 appearances, which included a 13-year spell at Slavia Prague where he scored 535 goals in just 272 appearances.

It has been said that if you count the games that were not recognised by FIFA, he has amassed between 1500-1800 goals in his long career.

Romario had an unbelievable goal-scoring career that spanned across many decades and countries, starting in 1985 in Brazil and playing in Holland, Spain, Qatar, America and Australia in a career that ended in 2009.

Romario had some great seasons both in Europe and South America, he had two seasons for Barcelona, scoring 39 goals in 65 appearances, but his best goal-scoring seasons came for Vasco de Gama between 2000-02, where he scored 132 goals in 135 appearances.

He also led his country to a World Cup title in 1994, scoring five goals in the tournament, whilst also scoring a crucial penalty in the shoot-out in the final against Italy.

Lionel Messi has scored 759 goals in 961 games so far for Barcelona, Paris Saint Germain and Argentina which has seen him grab a record seven Ballon d’Ors in his career, and at 34 years old, he still has a lot more time to add to his total.

Messi holds many goalscoring honours, with his best honour being most goals scored in a calendar year, scoring 81 goals in 2012, which saw him take home the La Liga top scorer and Champions League top scorer award in the same season, one of three times he has achieved this.

The three-time World Cup winner had one of the most legendary careers in football which has him in conversations as one of the best players of all time, which started with a bang at the 1958 World Cup where at just 17-years-old, he scored six goals in the tournament, including two in the final to win the tournament.

In FIFA recognised matches, Pele scored 757 goals in 837 games, with most of his games coming for Santos in Brazil, scoring 643 goals in 659 games from 1956-1974, but he claims to have scored over 1000 goals in his career, but most of those goals came in friendly matches which don’t count towards his tally.
