The first player on this list is Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane, with Manchester United being made as the bookies’ favourites ahead of Chelsea to sign the 28-year-old in the summer.
The Old Trafford club are in desperate need of a high-quality centre-back that has attributes such as pace and leadership next to club captain Harry Maguire, as they look to chase down their first league title since 2013.
Varane’s signature would provide more experience in what is a relatively young starting line-up, as the average age of United’s starting 11 has tended to fluctuate between 24.8 years and 25.4 years old. Varane has experience of winning titles such as La Liga and the Champions League which could be vital for the Old Trafford club as they look to get over the line for more silverware.
United haven’t been free-spending on individual players in the current financial climate and with Varane potentially available on a cut-price fee, this would suit the Red Devils down to a tee, as he is a marketable player with bags of experience and world-class attributes which could certainly help to solidify their defence and cut out a majority of the cheap goals that has cost them points this campaign.
