Manchester United are the favourites to sign Sancho from Borussia Dortmund this summer. The Old Trafford club were linked with the 21-year-old throughout the whole of last summer but were unable to meet the £108m asking price that the Bundesliga outfit were demanding.
With rumours circulating that United could sign Sancho for a reduced fee due to the German outfit’s financial difficulties due to the current financial climate, this is arguably United’s best chance yet. United have been chasing Sancho since it was announced that he was leaving City in 2017 in pursuit of first-team football, and are huge admirers of the 21-year-old.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s squad remain without a senior right-winger, as the last one the club signed was Antonio Valencia back in the summer of 2009, following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo. Last summer United managed to get the signatures of Amad Diallo and Facundo Pellistri over the line, however, Diallo has had limited first-team action in what has been a crucial run of fixtures since the turn of the year, whilst Pellistri has been impressing on loan at Deportivo Alaves in La Liga.
A deal which could be integral in the signing of Sancho could be Edinson Cavani’s contract situation at the Theatre of Dreams, as the Uruguayan’s contract runs out at the end of the season and if the former PSG man was to sign a new deal, then it would allow United to delay the signing of a new striker for another 12 months.
