5 Superstars we Could see in the Premier League Next Season

Harry Kane Thiago Alcantara Spain England 2-1 Wembley Stadium

When does the transfer window open?

The 2019-20 season is set to draw to a close, with Liverpool being crowned champions of England for the first time in 30 years. Soon, a fairly short pre-season is set to be announced along with the 10-week summer transfer window that will allow the Reds’ contenders to reset, reload, and build themselves up ahead of the 2020-21 Premier League season. If teams are going to fight Jurgen Klopp’s side for the title, they will need to sign some big players.

The summer transfer window is one of those odd, yet exciting times to be a football fan – rumours are rife regarding the top players in world football, and it is always intriguing to see what moves your favourite team will pull off ahead of the new, fresh campaign.

Who can we expect to see in the Premier League next season when the transfer window opens July 27th?

Kai Havertz

It seems like this is a deal just waiting to be confirmed, so Chelsea fans should be fired up for next season. Havertz is a wonderful player that will immediately inject excitement, flair, and fabulous quality into their starting XI, as Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech set to start their Chelsea careers too.

Havertz is rumoured to be heading to Stamford Bridge (1/4) in a deal worth around £72m, and the Blues will certainly be getting bang for their buck – the German international scored 17 goals in all competitions for Leverkusen last season, as well as tallying nine assists.

The 21-year-old's innate ability to find himself in scoring positions is comparable to Chelsea manager Frank Lampard, who could help blossom Havertz into one of the great attacking midfield players in world football.

In truth, it looks like a partnership we all want to see blossom and this could be a match made in heaven.

Gareth Bale

It would be nice to see Gareth Bale back in the Premier League, wouldn’t it? The Welsh superstar, who has been out of favour for some time now and he appears to be done with Real Madrid after some muted title celebrations following a dismal season in the Spanish capital.

Bale made just 20 appearances all season, scoring three goals, in what has absolutely been the most disappointing season of his Los Blancos career.

The question is, who could sign him? Well, if the new Saudi consortium complete their takeover as planned, Newcastle United (4/1) could lead the way. The Magpies need a big-name star to usher in the potential new era at St James’ Park, and could afford the Wales international’s lofty wages.

As well as Newcastle, Manchester United (7/1) could be an option, but it is believed the club would only likely be interested in such a move for a cut-price deal due to the form of Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford, as well as the emergence of Mason Greenwood.

A return to north London looks likely, with Tottenham Hotspur (10/1) reportedly assessing Bale’s situation and Jose Mourinho would no doubt love to see the former Premier League Player of the Season back in action for his side.

Jadon Sancho

Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho is said to be all but ready to pack his bags at Borussia Dortmund and move back to England.

As has been the most talked about transfer of the year, the former City youth prospect could find himself at Old Trafford very soon, with Manchester United (8/15) the firm favourites to seal the deal.

Sancho would prove to be an exceptional signing for the Red Devils as he is an England international and, at just 20 years of age, he isn't just one of the brightest youngsters, but truly one world's very best in his position.

The winger registered 20 goals and 20 assists during a successful season with Dortmund in 2019-20 - only Robert Lewandowski has been involved in more goals. Now, United want to place him as the diamond in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s attacking crown.

As time goes on, it truly does look as if this deal is nearing its conclusion and we may just see Sancho back in Manchester, but covered in red.

Jan Oblak

Atletico Madrid's Jan Oblak is arguably the best goalkeeper in the world right now as the downfall of former Atletico shot-stopper, David De Gea, continues to spiral.

Whilst the Madrid outfit are a clear European heavyweight, league titles and the European crown are far away, as the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid continue to dominate Spanish football. With this said, just like De Gea, Oblak may soon pack his bags and head to England, where he can finally obtain some prestigious silverware.

The Slovenian is linked with a move to both Manchester United (21/10) and Chelsea (3/1), although the latter appears more likely. Manchester United are running out of patience with De Gea, who made yet more errors during their FA Cup semi-final defeat to Chelsea.

However, the Red Devils have Dean Henderson waiting in the wings, and the Englishman has had a fine season in goal for Sheffield United. Chelsea could potentially need a new number one, with Kepa falling out of favour under Frank Lampard, and the Spanish international has been heavily linked with a move back to his native country in the last few weeks.

Whilst this may not be the most likely move, we should keep an eye on this one.

Thiago

We conclude with a deal that looks done and dusted - Thiago Alcantara to Liverpool.

Despite finally winning the Premier League, the Reds are reloading for a successful title defence in 2020/21, as Jurgen Klopp scans Europe for some more firepower.

Liverpool have been linked with Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago for the past few months, who is reportedly ready for a new challenge after seven seasons in the Bundesliga. Thiago has been plagued by injuries throughout his career, meaning despite boasting 23 major titles, he has only played 227 games in the past 13 seasons.

Now, at 29, the Spanish superstar is ready to move to Anfield (1/4), and Klopp has approved what could be a £40m transfer – a bargain for a player of Thiago’s quality.
