The Bundesliga returns

The Bundesliga is back May 16 and the bookies have arrived with their outright winners for the end of the season. From the title winner and relegation losers, to top scorers and a top four finish - here, we take a look ahead of the Bundesliga return and see where the money is at.

Only a few points separate the top three in the title race, whilst Mainz are far from safe down at the bottom. At the same time, Timo Werner is not too far behind Robert Lewandowski in the goalscoring charts, whilst Erling Haaland still has nine games to play with.

Let's take a look at the latest Bundesliga odds.

To win the Bundesliga Odds

Understandably so, not much has changed in the odds for Bayern Munich to win the title. The German giants have 28 titles so far in the Bundesliga and sit four clear of Borussia Dortmund at the top right now.

Last season, Bayern trailed their Die Klassiker rivals for much of the season, before topping Dortmund to win trophy number 28 in the German top-flight. Now, with nine games left to go and on their quest for title 29, Bayern are the 1/5 favourites to clinch the Bundesliga.

As mentioned, BVB are not too far behind, however, with only four points the difference, whilst RB Leipzig are themselves only five behind Bayern. In truth, it is an almighty title race and Bayern's four-point gap can very much be overturned.

Dortmund will have their work cut out though. The club face the leaders at home in just a few weeks and then head to bottom-placed Paderborn which is where their title race could be won or lost - their odds of 5/1 are certainly worth a go. A 5/1 price is high for a club only trailing by four points and it is important to remember that with the addition of Haaland, Dortmund were in stellar form prior to the suspension.

As for Leipzig, they meet second-placed BVB in June and only face one team inside the top eight from now until them, as Freiburg are the only team that should be a serious test within this time. Simply put, Leipzig's run in from now until the end is a dream and based off of this, their 8/1 price is not too bad of a shout.

Furthermore to their easier fixture list, Julian Nagelsmann's men have lost a league-low of three games thus far, making their argument for a title even stronger right now. Of course, the title seemingly lies with Bayern, however, but do not rule out a late charge from an in-form Dortmund and/or Leipzig, who have a favourable run-in.

Bundesliga Top Goalscorer Odds

Similar to the league title pursuit from Bayern, it seems as if the Golden Boot award is also destined for Munich once more through Lewandowski. The Polish striker has been the most prolific striker in all of Germany for the last decade, losing just two of the last six Golden Boot races to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang Alexander Meier.

Now, ever since Aubameyang left for Arsenal, the top goalscorer award in Germany has been almost easy for Lewandowski to obtain. The Bayern star has 25 goals in the 25 league games this campaign and remains the man to beat at odds of 1/5 to claim the top scorer trophy.

Just behind the 31-year-old is Timo Werner, who is undoubtedly the second-best in front of goal in the Bundesliga this season. The German has netted 21 goals thus far, just four short of Lewandowski's total and Werner is now 4/1 to win the Golden Boot.

What will give the RB Leipzig man some confidence in snatching the award is the club's fixture list from now until the end. As alluded to, other than Dortmund on June 20, each one of Leipzig's matches come against a team outside of the top seven, which is a stark contrast to Bayern's fixture list, where they must face Dortmund, Wolfsburg, Bayern Leverkusen and Borussia Monchengladbach. With this said, however, Lewandowski doesn't exactly care who he plays against, as he tends to bag wherever, whenever.

Elsewhere on the top goalscorer odds list, there is a giant leap to 80/1 for Haaland. The Norwegian signed BVB back in January and has since then boasted the best minutes per goal ratio in the country, registering nine goals with a ratio of 54 minutes per goal.

From now until the end of the Bundesliga season, perhaps Haaland will bag more than Lewandowski. However, the 19-year-old will need at least another 20+ from nine games, you would think, and, even for his standards, this is too much.

Bundesliga Top Four Finish Odds

Whilst the top scorer and title winner for the Bundesliga 2019/20 season looks set in stone, the battle for the top four is anything but that. Up top, Bayern are all but guaranteed a top four spot, with the gap now six points between them and Gladbach in fourth.

Plus, the gap between the Bavarians in first and Leverkusen in fifth is just eight points, which tells you all you need to know about the race for the top four in the Bundesliga. Indeed, Dortmund and Leipzig, whilst setting their sights on the title, are just four and three points ahead of Leverkusen, meaning even they can easily slip out in due course.

With this said, however, Paddy Power put Dortmund at 1/200 to stay within the top four at the end, whilst Leipzig are also 1/200. However, things are very different between Gladbach and Leverkusen in the battle between fourth and fifth.

Gladbach's early title challenge has quickly eradicated after a poor run of form around the winter. Since then, the club have plummeted down into fourth, where they are just two ahead of Leverkusen when action resumes. Now, odds are priced at 2/5 for the Foals to remain in the top four at the end, and only time will tell if this suspension has halted their form once more.

As for Leverkusen, the club are in fifth, two off fourth and only three off Leipzig in third. With this said, combined with the talents of Kai Havertz and Kevin Holland, it's easy to forge an argument for Die Werkself to charge for the top four.

Regardless how you see it, the battle between fourth and fifth is as close as it gets ahead of the Bundesliga return, and you simply cannot rule out a drop outside of the top four from Dortmund of Leipzig. Elsewhere, Schalke are 12 points off Gladbach down in sixth, and their 100/1 price is certainly justified.

Bundesliga betting without Bayern

Bundesliga betting without Bayern simply means the team to finish second behind Bayern, should the Bavarians win title number 29. For this, Dortmund are the favourites, considering they have been Bayern's closest title rivals for the best part of a decade.

Odds are priced at 4/5 for Dortmund to win without Bayern, as the club sit a point ahead of Leipzig in second. Ultimately, the battle between Leipzig and Dortmund on June 20 could well be the biggest of the season so far, especially if they are as close as they currently are when this fixture comes around.

As for the Red Bulls, the club's run in from now until the end is significantly easier than any other top four contender, and in truth, they couldn't have asked for it to be much easier. Eight placed Freiburg is up first, followed by relegation fighting Mainz and Hertha Berlin, before a trip to 10th placed Koln, and bottom of the table Paderborn. Then comes a battle with mid-table Hoffenheim, before another clash with a relegation stricken club in Fortuna Dusseldorf.

So, whilst Jadon Sancho, Marco Reus, Haaland and co. might be favoured towards finishing as winners without Bayern, their fixture list is far from that of Leipzig's. With this said, RBL's price of 11/10 is perhaps where the money is out throughout this outright betting preview.
