Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle

*All odds with Sky Bet are set to fluctuate over time.

Gordon Elliot gave ante-post punters a fright last week when revealing Envoi Allen could switch to the Supreme but after walking the course on Sunday, confirmed he would be running here; his intended target.

Last year’s Champion Bumper winner three from three this season, with hot form lines and is 5/4 to give Gordon Elliot a second success in this race in the last three years after Samcro in 2018.

He does face some competition from both Ireland and England. Sporting John is 3/1 for Phillip Hobbs and JP McManus. He was impressive earlier on in the season in novice events and then bolted up at Ascot three weeks ago.

The main Irish challenge to Envoi Allen will be The Big Getaway, he is 9/2 with Sky Bet. He hasn’t won outside median company yet but does have scope for improvement and is sure to go close, however, will need to find it to get close to Envoi Allen.

RSA Chase

Champ has been favourite for this race pretty much all season after winning back to back chases at Newbury in November and December but comes into this race off a less than convincing preparation.

Nicky Henderson's horse fell at the last when seemingly having the race won at Cheltenham in January and hasn’t been since after his intended engagement at Kelso last month fell victim to the weather but maintains joint-favourite at 3/1 with Sky Bet.

Champ shares favouritism with Henry De Bromhead’s Minella Indo. He was a 50/1 winner of last years Albert Bartlett and followed up at the Punchestown Festival. He’s been hard to get fit, finishing second on his chase debut but won last time out and Captain CJ, second that day has franked the form and is primed for a big effort.

Colin Tizzard has opted to send Copperhead here instead of the National Hunt Chase and his win at Ascot last month makes him a big player at 7/2, whilst Allaho seems to have been directed from the Marsh chase to here for Willie Mullins and is 9/2.

Coral Cup Handicap Hurdle

The Coral Cup is one of the biggest handicaps of the week, with Sky Bet going 8/1 in the field, led by Birchdale, for Nicky Henderson and JP McManus. He was pulled up in last year’s Albert Bartlett and has only been seen once this season, when tailed off in a novice chase, back in November.

Dame De Compagnie represents the same connections and was a good winner of a handicap at Cheltenham in December. She is 9/1 and JP McManus dominated the top of the betting with Alfa Mix, at 10/1. Sempo could be well handicapped for Joseph O’Brien, finishing midfield in last years Champion Bumper and is a 12/1 shot.

Champion Chase

Phillip Hobbs and JP McManus’ charge has been a revelation on the two-mile scene this year and is 11/10 to gain his third victory at the festival after winning the 2017 Triumph Hurdle and last year’s JLT. He does, however, need to reverse form with Chacun Pour Soi, who did him at last years Punchestown festival - he is a 6/4 shot for success.

This last time last year had just made his debut for Willie Mullins before winning at Punchestown and won at last months Dublin Racing festival after finishing second to A Plus Tard on his return in December. He will still have improvement to come but it’s clearly a race that’s going to be dominated by the race and the race of the week.

Cross Country Chase

Following his encouraging come back last month, Tiger Roll has been heavily backed for a third successive win in the race and now is as short as 10/11 with Sky Bet for the hat trick. Gordon Elliott will be hoping his stable star can take his in his stride before going for the hat trick of Grand Nationals next month.

Country race in December and has since been purchased by JP McManus. He is 11/4 to deny the Tiger. Below them two, the market is rather open. It was a surprise when Nicky Henderson announced Might Bite would be taking to the Cross Country. He was pulled up in last year’s Gold Cup after finishing second in 2018 and is 11/1 to make a winning debut on the Cross-Country course, alongside Urgent de Gregaine.

JP McManus has other chances with Cross Country specialist Edna Bolger, in the form of Josie’s Orders and Yanworth, both 16/1, however, both were beaten last time by Jessica Harrington’s Neverushacon who is a 14/1 shot.

Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle

It’s no surprise to see yet again JP McManus holding the aces at the top of the market for a Cheltenham handicap and Aramax has been all the range in the ante-post market for Gordon Elliot after victory last month and is a 5/1 favourite.

Mick Pastor, also of McManus won last time out after making a poor debut in England back in November but showed improvement last time and looks to have been kept back for the race and can be backed at 7/1.

There are plenty of unexposed young horses here, most of whom are open to much improvement and Nicky Henderson and Paul Nicholls have live chances too.

Henderson’s Palladium was a 10-length winner at Sandown in February on his third hurdle start and races off a mark of 137 whilst Thyme White, a French import for Paul Nicholls won the Scottish Triumph Hurdle last month and is priced at 12/1.

Champion Bumper

Willie Mullins has an impressive record in this race, and Appreciate It was an impressive winner of a bumper at the Dublin Racing Festival. He looks to be Mullins’ best hope and hasn’t been missed in the market, with Sky bet going 13/8.

The legend trainer also has Ferny Hallow at 8/1, who got off the mark two weeks ago. Panic Attack was with Mullins at the start of the season and was impressive winning a listed event at Market Rasen on debut in January but has switched yards to David Pipe but must not be ruled out at 8/1.

Pipe also has impressive listed winner Israel Champ, he is 10/1 whilst Gordon Elliott and Jamie Codd combine with Queens Brook at 13/2.
