The Europa League returns

The Europa League is set to return to over TV screens at the beginning of August with the entire competition to be played out throughout his month.

The remaining round of 16 second leg ties will take place on August 5 and 6 and a decision is expected soon on whether or not they are to be played in the clubs' respective home stadiums.

This season's Europa League will then moves to Germany for the all the quarter-final and semi-final fixtures, before the final kicks off in Cologne on August 21.

Here, we take a look at the Europa League winner odds and who could lay their hands on the illustrious title.

Manchester United Europa League odds

Manchester United are the current favourites to win the competition, as Sky Bet have given the Red Devils the odds of 5/2 to be champions come the end of the season.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have won six of their nine games over the entirety of the tournament, finishing with 12 points over the six group fixtures, and beating Club Brugge at home after a 1-1 draw in the first leg.

Coming into the home second leg with LASK Linz, the Red Devils have a five-goal advantage after thrashing the Austrian Bundesliga team 5-0, adding to their 21 goals so far in the competition.

The tournament's joint top-scorer is United’s outstanding £50m January transfer signing, Bruno Fernandes, with six goals thus far.

The Portuguese midfielder has had a massive impact on his new side’s form since he signed, and will undoubtedly continue to impress in United’s attempt to win their first trophy since winning the competition in 2016/17, for the first time ever.

INTER MILAN @ 5/1

Inter Milan & Bayer Leverkusen

Inter Milan and Bayer Leverkusen are the joint runner-up favourites to win the Europa League 2020 competition, with the Sky Bet odds of 5/1.

Leverkusen have been in good form since returning to action in the Bundesliga, winning five and scoring 20 in the nine games they have played.

Before the break, Petr Bosz’s men had also won four of their previous five European games, beating Rangers away at the Ibrox Stadium to earn themselves a 3-1 advantage over the Scottish side.

The Bundesliga side have never won the modern form of the UEFA Europa League, although have won the UEFA Cup in the 1987/88 campaign.

This season they could be within reach of the trophy, however, fielding a host of quality players such as Kai Havertz. The 21-year-old has scored 15 goals for his side this season, including three in the three Europa League fixtures he has played.

Inter Milan, on the other hand, have already won six European trophies, including three Champions League titles, including the famous 2009/10 trophy with Jose Mourinho and another three UEFA Cups, all won during the ’90s.

Now, Antonio Conte’s side will be hopeful of achieving another European competition win as they head towards the first leg between them and Spanish La Liga side, Getafe.

Conte has never won a European trophy, although he does have a significant number of players with European final experience, including, Diego Godin, Romelu Lukaku, Ashley Young, Kwadawo Asamoah and most recently, Christian Eriksen.

Wolves Europa League odds

Wolverhampton Wanderers are the outsider favourites to win the Europa League, with the very considerable odds of 11/2 to do so.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side continue to surprise English football fans, continuing their impressive run of form since their Premier League promotion just two seasons ago.

Despite doubt in the Molineux sides chances of producing the same results of last season due to the prospect of European football, Wolves have performed admirably so far in both the league and the Europa League.

While Sky Bet have rated the English side’s chances with the low odds to win the competition, the Wolves are potentially the tournament's dark horses. Santo has a lot of exciting talent available to him with the likes of Raul Jimenez, Adama Traore, Ruben Neves and Europa League winner with Porto, Joao Moutinho.

Although the Premier League side are underdogs to win the competition, their quality and form make Espirito’s men a very considerable addition to any punters betslip when taking into account their quality also.

MANCHESTER UNITED @ 5/2

Sevilla Europa League odds

evilla are the most successful club in the Europa League competition, winning the trophy a total of five times in their history, with three consecutive titles from 2014 to 2017.

On account of this, the Sky Bet odds of 7/1 are more than worthy of a punters consideration in adding the La Liga side to their betslip.

The La Liga side currently sit at third place in the Spanish top tier and were in impressive form before the break. However, Julen Lopetegui’s side have struggled for results since the resumption of the league, drawing three and winning just one.

Los Palanganas now face Serie A side, Roma, as they look to advance to a possible sixth Europa League trophy. The Italian’s have been in surprisingly unimpressive form this season and will find it hard to play Sevilla. Their odds of winning the competition are 16/1, as fans and punters look forward to the resumption of European football.
