It is fair to say that the England national team is in a great place right now. Under the leadership of Gareth Southgate, the public have fallen back in love with the Three Lions and everyone is now looking forward to Euro 2020.
Last summer was a brilliant summer for England, reaching the semi-finals of the World Cup for the first time since 1990. They have since followed that up with a strong performance in the UEFA Nations League by reaching this summers semi-finals, and also secured impressive wins against Czech Republic and Montenegro.
It means that there is genuine excitement about how England could do at Euro 2020, indeed they have already been made one of the favourites to win the tournament.
We've used Paddy Power's 'to make the Euro 2020 squad' market to see what the starting XI bookmakers are predicting could be for the Three Lions next summer.
Goalkeeper and defenders
Jordan Pickford is the man that will be between the sticks according to the odds, indeed he is as low as 1/50 to be in the squad and so barring a major injury looks nailed on.
Then, presuming Southgate will still be going with a back four, the bookmakers are predicting that Kyle Walker will be at right back with his odds being 1/3 to be included. That would mean that he pips Kieran Trippier to the position as well as Trent Alexander-Arnold who may not even make the squad according to the odds.
At centre-back, two of 2018's World Cup heroes look set to retain their places. John Stones (2/9) and Harry Maguire (3/10) have both become key players in the national team recently and look set to be the duo that will be tasked with keeping things tight at the back during Euro 2020.
With regards to who will play at left-back, Southgate has a number of options at his disposal. Danny Rose started their last fixture and has a wealth of experience having earned 26 caps, whilst Luke Shaw has regained his best form at Manchester United and has forced himself back into the international set up. However, it is Ben Chilwell who is likely to start with odds of 4/11.
Odds suggest a midfield trio
In terms of how England could line-up in the middle of the park, the odds suggest that it will be a midfield three.
Dele Alli looks to be the most nailed on player to start in the midfield, indeed he is 1/20 to be in the squad which is significantly lower than any of the other players in this position. Alli has been a regular for England for around three years now, winning 35 caps already at the age of 23. When fit, Southgate picks him so the bookmakers are probably right to suggest he will start at Euro 2020.
Alongside the Spurs midfielder will be another man who has been a regular for some years now, Jordan Henderson. The Liverpool man is 3/10 to be included and given his performances for the Reds this term it will be hard to leave him out. Declan Rice is the final player of the trio, with the West Ham man having recently swapped from Republic of Ireland to play for England, he is also 3/10.
Deadly front three predicted
Perhaps the easiest position to predict, but Harry Kane will almost certainly start for England at Euro 2020 if fit. He is a huge 1/80 to be involved, he is the team captain and talisman who won the golden boot at last years World Cup.
Raheem Sterling is another who looks absolutely nailed on to play, and also has odds of 1/80. He has become one of the best wingers in the world under Pep Guardiola at Manchester City, netting 17 goals already this season alone. Sterling has also began transferring his form to the national team with six goals in his last four appearances, he will be a key player for Southgate.
The final place in the front three looks likely to be between two players. Despite having been in the World Cup squad, Marcus Rashford will miss out on a start according to the odds with Jadon Sancho (1/20) instead being including in the XI. The Borussia Dortmund wide man has excelled in the Bundesliga this season, scoring 10 goals and assisting 13 in just 29 appearances and is a more natural winger than Rashford, which is possibly why bookies believe that he will get the nod.
