Unlikely promotion hopefuls Barnsley continue their push for the Premier League with a visit to Coventry City’s alternative home of St. Andrew’s on Sunday, with the Sky Blues in dire need of a win themselves.
Mark Robins’ side will need an improvement on their recent run of three wins in 15 if they are to be certain of remaining in the second tier for next season, and having lost eight of those games means they have taken just 13 points from a possible 45. This will be a quick turnover for Coventry too, having been in action against a Rotherham side directly below them in the final relegation spot on Thursday. Their current buffer of six points having played three games more looks fragile.
On the other hand, Barnsley will have had all week to prepare and focus for this encounter, and they come into it on the back of six straight wins on the road. Their meteoric rise from mid-table obscurity to near-certs for the playoffs has seen them notch up 36 points in their last 15 games, no side has more in that time.
The form book points towards an away win here, and we tip Barnsley to do so with both teams scoring at 9/2.
