The Manchester-born left-back impressed in his inaugural breakthrough season last year but after the arrival of Alex Telles from Porto in the summer and the continued form of of Luke Shaw has seen the young full-back limited to just eight appearances in all competitions.
A loan move is more likely than a permanent switch for the left-back, given how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer likes to build on local youth and Sheffield United and Everton are reportedly interested.
The Blades, famous for utilising a 3-5-2 formation with a high emphasis of their play on wing-backs and overlapping centre-halves may be a destination that could see Williams flourish. A positive short loan spell could see real growth in a player that is still only 20, an outcome which would only see Manchester United benefit, either financially, if the club are willing to cash in, or gaining a much-improved player with much more Premier League experience.
