The Chinese Olympic Diving team made history after winning gold in seven of the eight events in the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games. The only event in which they didn’t achieve gold, the men’s synchronized 10 metres, they still managed to take home the silver medal.
The Sport has never seen such dominance since it was introduced into the Olympic games; Quan Hongchan, at just 14 years of age received a perfect 10 from every judge in two of her five dives as she claimed victory from the 10-metre platform.
Equally as impressive, for the first time in 20 years, Xie Siyi became the first male to win both the synchronized and individual events from three metres. Their dominance in the games has not gone unnoticed and could see them become the first individual Olympic team, within a nation, to take home the prestigious award.
