This Weekend's Boxing Tips, Predictions & Offers - 11/12/21

Conor Benn fights for the third time this year as the unbeaten British prospect clashes with the American veteran and former world champion, Chris Algieri. The bout takes place in Liverpool live on DAZN as the co-main to the Katie Taylor v Firuza Sharipova fight, and Benn has been making a bit of noise this week in the wake of the Amir Kahn v Kell Brook fight announcement.

The 25-year-old has been saying he would like to take on the winner of the bout for another all-British bout, but in his way beforehand is Algieri, who comes into this fight with an impressive 25 wins from his 28 bouts, but only nine of which have come via TKO/KO. Ironically enough, he also lost to Amir Kahn back in 2015, with his two other losses being to Manny Pacquiao and Erol Spence Jr., neither of which are negatives on anybody's CV by any means.

Nevertheless, every time the American has stepped up to the world stage, he's been easily beaten and Benn is now the 1/8 favorite here against a man who hasn't TKO'd somebody since 2012, and rightfully so, Benn should get the job done inside the distance just as he has done 12 times in his 19 bouts.

Sunny Edwards defends his IBF flyweight title against Jayson Mama this weekend over in Dubai as part of Probellum: Revolution. It is the brand's first major event this Saturday, which also sees the legendary Michael Buffer on the mic as well, with John Riel Casimero defending his WBO bantamweight title against mandatory challenger, Paul Butler in the main event too.

It will be the first time the 25-year-old Londoner has defended his IBF flyweight title following his unanimous decision win over Moruti Mthalane, which also puts Edwards with a healthy 16-0 record and it will now be his eighth time he has fought for a belt of some kind in his past 10 fights. In fact, the Sutton man won the vacant WBO European super-flyweight title against Ross Murray in just his sixth professional fight.

Oddly enough, Mama also boasts a 16-0 record, but with all of these bar two fights coming on the national seen in the Philippines, we're backing Edwards to win here again and defend his belt

Sticking with the British v Philippine trend in Dubai this weekend, John Riel Casimero defends his WBO bantamweight crown against Paul Butler in what is set to be an intriguing bout. Casimero is coming off the back of a fantastic victory over Guillermo Rigondeaux, but it was a split decision win over a 41-year-old at the end of the day.

Nevertheless, with 31 wins and only four defeats and 21 of which have come via a knockout, the 31-year-old is the clear favourite here and at 1/33, is the lowest-priced fighter scrapping this weekend.

Jonas Sultan was the last man to beat Casimero, meaning he has now gone seven fights without defeat, and six of these were via a TKO/KO. Most notably, he won the WBO interim bantamweight title off Ricardo Espinoza Franco with a KO in the 12th round with just 44 seconds left in the fight, while he also avenged his loss to Amnat Ruenroeng as well back in 2015, meaning Sultan is the only one who holds a complete victory over him since 2011 where he lost to Mthalane.

Butler has his work cut out, and despite going on a seven-fight win streak, they've all been points victories inside eight-round fights, except one KO and a split decision in his last fight with Willibaldo Garcia.

At 1/33, Katie Taylor is the favorite once again and is the lowest-priced fighter taking to the ring this weekend alongside Casimero, and in reality, we see nothing but another Taylor victory.

The Irishwomen has been very active in the past 16 months, as she now fights in her fifth fight within this time, all of which have been title defences for the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring lightweight titles. Most notably, she beat the threatening Natasha Jonas within this period, as well as laying to rest the controversial majority decision win over Delfine Persoon, as she managed to beat the Belgian in a unanimous win in August of last year. Most recently, Taylor defeated the experienced American, Jennifer Han, via a unanimous victory, and all signs point towards the champions beat Sharipova here too.

At 27, the Kazhakstani has lost just once in her career, which actually came in her pro debut to Sofya Ochigava, which in reality, was the biggest bout of her career and she lost it.

In the early hours of Sunday morning Vasiliy Lomachenk will face off with Ghanian superstar Richard Commey, in what is the Ukrainian second fight since losing his WBA, WBO, and Ring lightweight titles to Teofimo Lopez, which ironically, comes a week after he lost his first defence of the belts to George Kambosos Jr. It's one thing being Lomachenko and having the appeal as an all-time great already, but with Lopez now losing, Gevonta Davis and Devin Haney both winning in the past week too, all eyes are now back on Loma to see if he can return to the top of the division as so many are predicting he will.

In the former champ's first bout since losing to Lopez, he managed to beat the impressive Japanese, Masayoshi Nakatani, in the ninth round with a fantastic TKO following a nine-round clinic. This combined with Lopez losing his titles to Kambosos Jr, all points to Lomachenko getting back to the top where many think he belongs.

Davis and Haney are waiting in the wings too, but right now, all eyes are on Lomachenko who is now 1/8 to beat Commey, who himself has lost only three times (once of which was to Lopez), but with 27 KOs from 30 wins, the Ghanian remains a threat.

"The Matrix" should get the job done, however, and likely inside the distance after beating down on Commey for a few rounds.
