Winner of the past two World Championship titles, Harrie Lavreysen enters the Tokyo Olympics as the fastest men’s track cyclist in the world and favourite to win gold by a bit of margin.
Competing in his first Olympic Games, the Dutch rider could leave the Japanese capital with a total of three gold medals, as the 24-year-old will also compete in the team sprint and keirin events, where he is also the favourite.
Without an Olympic champion in the men’s individual sprint since 1932, Lavreysen is priced at 6/5 to become the first post-war Dutch winner.
