Ryan Crouser is the number one ranked shot put competitor in the world and will be looking to retain his gold medal from the Rio 2016 Olympics, a time where he was also the favourite. Earlier this year, Crouser broke the world outdoor record (pending ratification) with a throw of 23.37m/76-8.25 and now he might just be coming into peak form.
The 28-year-old's throw overtook the world record set by Randy Barnes in 1990, adding 10 inches to that mark. The American also set the world indoor record (pending ratification), throwing 22.82m so now, simply put, he is the greatest shot putter of all time.
Crouser is a nine-time NCAA All-American and has 12 gold medals in his professional career and he is the clear favourite to win Olympic gold for Team USA in Tokyo this year at 1/3. To further add how dominant Crouser is in this sport, he is 1/100 just to claim a medal, which is one of the lowest odds at all of the games.
