Dillian Whyte kept us on edge until the very last second, but we can now look forward to a fight that has been in the making for years.
The highly sought-after brawl between Tyson Fury and Whyte has now finally been confirmed with Fury set to defend his world heavyweight title on April 23.
The pair have been firing insults back and forth, however, now the time has come for them to ditch the mind games and prove they’re the best fighter in the ring.
Whyte, the WBC interim champion, has been desperately waiting for a shot at the full title after battling Alexander Povetkin and proving his worth at the top. The 33-year-old has been backed by various names in the sport, including Anthony Joshua who hopes to take him on after this.
The battles that Fury has faced outside of the ring seem to outweigh any opponent he could face inside the ring. Despite this, he has returned to face multiple boxers and each time has shown that he can step up to the task.
Fury versus Whyte is the first major heavyweight contest of 2022, both men have shown to have immense levels of power, but who will come out on top?
Fury has knocked out the heaviest puncher in boxing twice and has survived knockouts against Wilder – therefore it’s hard to believe that there’s anything Whyte can do to hurt him. Tyson has proven time and time again that he can bounce back and find the fire within him to box.
Fans will know that Tyson has shown a very strong chin in previous fights, whereas Whyte has had issues with this before. Dillian was knocked out in his two losses and can be hurt by a big punch.
The stature of 6ft 9 Fury will also give him a 4-inch height advantage. Whyte will rely on his jab and may struggle to land these.
Whyte will be able to damage Fury if he can land the punch. But, Tyson’s confidence and strength will make it almost impossible for him to land chances.
Tyson is considered a huge favourite, with better footwork, a harder punch and the ability to fight better during the second half of fights.
Their face-off is set to be one of the biggest fights in boxing history, a fight which will see the Gypsy King aiming to defend his well-earned belts and Whyte battle to steal them.
