Next Arsenal Manager Odds

Arsenal could be on the lookout for a new manager if results don’t improve under Mikel Arteta following back-to-back eighth-place finishes.

The Spaniard saw his side lose 2-0 away at newly-promoted Brentford in the opening match of the season on Friday night and with the Gunners next two league matches being against Chelsea and Manchester City, then pressure could significantly mount up on the Spaniard if the Gunners fall from grace continues to be in free fall as it has post-Arsene Wenger’s departure from the Emirates in 20118, with the Gunners FA Cup win in 2020 merely papering over the cracks.

Brendan Rodgers Odds: 13/5

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers is the bookie’s favourite to take over the role at Arsenal if Arteta is to leave in the near future.

The Northern Irishman’s side may be a far better squad on paper, but there is a sense of prestige that comes with managing a club of Arsenal’s size. The Gunners are a club that needs stability and a good style of football of which they were used to under the days of Wenger and someone like Rodgers could bring this to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal do typically have a big transfer budget despite claims that the Gunners don’t tend to spend, but it has been spent wastefully, investing in players such as Nicolas Pepe for £72m, as well as David Luiz and Willian. Rodgers has brought a sense of direction since his arrival at the King Power Stadium in the latter stages of the 2018/19 campaign, which is something that Arsenal are severely lacking, as it is unclear as to the purposes of some of their signings as well as their identity on the pitch.

Rodgers is priced at 13/5 to become Arsenal’s next manager.

Antonio Conte Odds: 9/2

Antonio Conte has also been linked with the job at the Emirates Stadium.

The Italian looked likely to become Tottenham Hotspur’s next manager in the summer, but, following a breakdown in talks, the former Chelsea man declined the job with the Lilywhites, meaning that he has been left without a managerial post.

Conte left Inter last summer having won the league title with the San Siro club and has been well known for quick turnarounds and re-builds of clubs, as he famously managed Juventus on their way to winning the Serie A in 2011/12, 2012/13 and 2013/14, effectively starting the Old Lady’s latest dynasty in Italian football until he ended it with Inter last season.

The 52-year-old also showed that he has what it takes to manage in England, having won the Premier League in his first season at Chelsea, despite the Blues finishing a lowly 10th place in 2015/16 behind the likes of Stoke City in a turbulent season that saw Jose Mourinho sacked and replaced with Guus Hiddink as interim manager.

Conte has the odds of 9/2 to become the next manager at the Emirates Stadium

Eddie Howe Odds: 9/1

Eddie Howe is also on this list of possible managers that could replace Arteta at Arsenal.

Howe has not had a job since leaving Bournemouth following their relegation from the Premier League at the end of last season. He is best known for his time at the Cherries, managing them for 12 years till his departure in 2020, with a one and a half-season spell at Burnley separating his two spells at Dean Court between January 2011 and October 2012. His time at Bournemouth saw him take the Cherries from the bottom of the League Two table to as high as ninth place in the Premier League in 2016/17.

The 43-year-old is known for playing an attractive style of football which is something that Arsenal fans are used to, whereas Arteta has often shown pragmatism with his reluctance to move away from their five at the back formation at times when playing against weaker opposition.

Arsenal are priced at 9/1 to appoint Howe as their next manager.

Freddie Ljungberg Odds: 16/1

Freddie Ljungberg is also in contention to replace Arteta should the managerial position at the Emirates Stadium become vacant.

The former Gunners midfielder actually took charge of six games during the 2019/20 season, winning just one of the six he oversaw. The 44-year-old’s first game in charge resulted in a 2-2 draw away at bottom of the table Norwich City, his only victory came in a 3-1 win over West Ham.

Ljungberg would be familiar with a number of Arsenal’s upcoming youngsters, having previously been part of their Under 23’s setup and could potentially lead a cultural revamp at his old club, but, he would likely need some experienced coaching staff around him due to never managing a senior side on a permanent basis.

The Swedish man is priced at 16/1 to make a sensational return to Arsenal.

Roberto Martinez Odds: 20/1

Roberto Martinez is the final manager to feature on this list of those that are in contention to be Arsenal’s next manager.

The Spaniard is currently the manager of the Belgium national team with who he achieved a third-placed finish in the 2018 World Cup, following their semi-final exit to eventual winners France, before defeating England in the third-place playoff.

Martinez also managed to win the FA Cup with Wigan Athletic in the 2012/13 season against all odds having beaten City in the final of the competition, he showed during his time as manager of the Latics and even in his first season in charge of Everton when the Toffees pushed for a Champions League qualification place that his sides do play good and expansive football whilst getting the desired results.

Martinez has the odds of 20/1 to replace a fellow Spaniard in Arteta at Arsenal.
