Luton Town vs Bournemouth Prediction & Betting Tips

Bournemouth make the trip to Kenilworth Road to take on Luton Town in the Premier League this Saturday. The Cherries are looking to close in on the top half of the table whereas Luton need a big win to help in their relegation scrap.

      Date: 06/04/2024

      Kick off time: 15:00

      Location: Kenilworth Road

The battle for Premier League survival is heating up with points deductions pulling even more into the fight. Luton are within touching distance of safety, but Bournemouth are even closer to the top half of the table.

Luton Town currently sit 18th in the Premier League after 31 games. The Hatters have five wins, seven draws and 19 losses, leaving them on 22 points, three points behind Nottingham Forest and four points from Everton.

The Hatters have a much better scoring record than their league placement would suggest, scoring 43 goals in 31 games, giving them an average of 1.38 goals a game. Luton have been much worse defensively, however, conceding 64 goals and keeping just two clean sheets.

Bournemouth sit just above Luton in 11th in the Premier League. In 30 games, The Cherries have 11 wins, eight draws and 11 losses which leaves them on 41 points, one point away from the top half of the table.

The Cherries have also been consistent in front of goal this season, scoring 44 goals in 30 games, an average of 1.46 goals a game. Bournemouth have also struggled at the other end of the pitch, conceding 53 goals but keeping seven clean sheets.

Luton and Bournemouth have met 65 times in their histories, with the first meeting coming back in 1923. Not much separates the two sides with Bournemouth on 26 wins in comparison to Luton’s 22 wins, the other 17 games ending in a share of the points.

The last five games in this fixture have seen two wins for both Bournemouth and Luton with one 0 - 0 draw back in 2020. This fixture has also delivered goals recently, with the last three games having at least three goals with both teams on the scoresheet.

      Luton Town Team News

Rob Edwards has a laundry list of injuries to manage. This includes Tom Lockyer, Amari’i Bell, Marvelous Nakamba, Elijah Adebayo, Sambi Lokonga, Dan Potts, Mads Andersen, Jacob Brown, Alfie Doughty, Tahith Chong, Reece Burke and Chiedozie Ogbene. However, Gabriel Osho could return this weekend.

      Bournemouth Team News

Andoni Iraola is missing the likes of Ryan Fredericks and Luis Sinisterra, but could have Marcos Senesi. Of late, Lewis Cook has been filling in at centre-back next to Illia Zabarnyi. Ryan Christie returned from injury in midweek and played the full 90 minutes.

      Recent Form

In their last six games in all competitions, Luton have two draws and four losses.

The visit from Aston Villa saw a brace from Ollie Watkins give Villa the 2 - 0 lead at halftime. However, Chong and Carlton Morris both scored to bring Luton level with 15 minutes to go. A goal from Lucas Digne in the 89th minute grabbed a 3 - 2 win for Aston Villa.

The trip to South London saw Luton behind early thanks to a goal from Jean-Philippe Mateta in the 11th minute. Crystal Palace held on to this lead until the end of normal time but Cauley Woodrow popped up with a goal in the sixth minute of added time to rescue a 1 - 1 draw and a big point for Luton.

Luton were once again behind at halftime, with Chris Wood giving Nottingham Forest the lead just after the 30 minute mark. However, yet again, Luton came up big late on with a goal from Luke Berry in the 89th minute grabbing another 1 - 1 draw for Luton.

The trip to North London saw Luton in front for once, with Chong finding the back of the net in the third minute. However, an own goal from Issa Kabore and a late goal from Son Heung-min gave Tottenham the 2 - 1 win.

Luton were comfortably beaten 2-0 by Arsenal on Wednesday night as Martin Odegaard gave Arsenal an early lead before Japanese defender Daiki Hashioka put through his own net on the stroke of half time.

In their last six games in all competitions, Bournemouth have four wins, one draw and one loss.

The Fifth Round of the FA Cup saw Bournemouth host Championship side Leicester. A goalless 90 minutes saw the game sent to extra time where Abdul Fatawu scored the only goal of the game to give Leicester the 1 - 0 win.

Back in the Premier League, Bournemouth took a trip to Turf Moor to take on Burnley. Justin Kluivert opened the scoring in the 13th minute and Antoine Semenyo doubled the lead in the 88th minute to give Bournemouth the 2 - 0 win.

The visit from a struggling Sheffield United saw The Cherries behind entering the late stages of the game. Gustavo Hamer and Jack Robinson both scored to give The Blades the 2 - 0 lead, but goals from Dango Ouattara and Enes Unal rescued a 2 - 2 draw for Bournemouth.

Dominic Solanke was back to scoring for Bournemouth against Everton, opening the scoring just after the hour mark. Beto equalised with just three minutes to go but an own goal from Seamus Coleman in extra time gave Bournemouth the 2 - 1 win.

Bournemouth managed to narrowly beat Crystal Palace 1-0 on Tuesday night as Justin Kluivert scored the only goal of the game in the 79th-minute, as he linked up with fellow second-half substitute Semenyo.

Earlier in March, Bournemouth hosted this fixture. Chong, Ogbene and Ross Barkley all scored in the first half to give Luton the 3 - 0 lead at halftime. However, a brace from Semenyo and goals from Solanke and Illia Zabarnyi gave Bournemouth the biggest comeback in 21 years in the Premier League.
