Mauricio Pochettinno Odds

As is the life of a football manager, previous success and accolades accomplished does not always guarantee job security. Mauricio Pochettino discovered this at Tottenham last season, being sacked after reaching the UEFA Champions League final in Madrid and helping rebuild the club entirely.

Some would argue his exit from north London club was premature on account of his record and relationship with the club, taking Spurs to new heights domestically and continentally.

Nonetheless, Pochettino will undoubtedly be seeking a route back into a managerial role and with a host of Europe’s most elite clubs potentially in search of a new head coach. Surely, it will not be long before fans see the Argentine grace the touchlines of Europe once again, with clubs constantly changing their managerial roles.

Here, we have a look at the Paddy Power odds markets for his next potential managerial role.

Pochettino to Newcastle the favourite

Newcastle United's imminent takeover is set to change English football. The club are a sleeping giant and are one of those outfits that has simply needed a cash flow to get them back where they belong.

With Amanda Staveley's Saudi-backed takeover, the Magpies will not hesitate in bringing in the biggest names, starting out with the manager. Whilst Steve Bruce has done well thus far, keeping the club adrift from the relegation battle, he is far from the Pochettino's of the world.

Four top four finishes in five seasons and a Champions League final are just two of the impressive feats Pochettino achieved in taking Spurs from Europa League fighters, to title challengers. It's simple, if the Magpies want to get back up there, Pochettino is the man.

Now, after Sky Sports have reported that Newcastle are set to offer the Argentine £19m a year to take the helm, the favourite for the former Spurs manager's next club is with the Magpies at EVENS.

Similar to when he took the job in north London, this is a project that seems right up the street of Pochettino. Before entirely transforming Spurs, the 48-year-old took relegation ridden Southampton into eighth after a phenomenal season with the Saints.

This one seems to fit like a glove, and with a wage of £19m a year, EVENS is a fantastic bet.

Mauricio Pochettinno Manchester United Odds

Manchester United are no longer the favourites to sign Pochettino, having their odds of Spurs 4/11 thrown to 3/1 ahead of Newcastle's potential takeover. The board at United seems to be keen on allowing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to continue his rebuild, backing him financially and for the future. However, it seems this link between the Argentine and the Red Devils will continue it until he eventually finds a club.

Indeed, Solskjaer replaced current Spurs boss Jose Mourinho as caretaker manager in December 2018 and was offered a permanent role after 10 wins in 13 league matches for Red Devils.

However, the Norwegian, although making positive moves, has yet to completely sell himself to the United faithful, as they continue to battle for Champions League football.

With the United board and fans desperate to regain the dominance of British football Alex Ferguson once brought to Old Trafford, a move for a manager with Pochettino’s record and reputation for resourcefulness could be imminent.

Also, the former Spurs manager had reportedly given Manchester United a list of demands should he join the club, back in January. The list reportedly demanded Pochettino would join the club only at the end of the 2019/20 season, and that Woodward would have no say on any transfers in or out of the club.

It did seem as if this was inevitable, especially should Solskajer leave his post as United boss. However, Newcastle have thrown a spanner in the works here.

Mauricio Pochettinno Manchester City Odds

Reports have emerged these past few months that Pep Guardiola could be set to leave Manchester City after a two-year ban from Champions League football, making Pochettino the favourite to take over at odds of 10/3.

Despite City vowing to fight the ban, Guardiola’s future with the Citizens could be at its end with Juventus a reported target. The Spaniard has done the majority of the European circuit, winning titles with the elite clubs in Germany, England and Spain, and Italy just seems like the next step in his career.

Should their neighbours United choose to allow Solskjaer to see out the remaining two years left on his contract, Pochettino’s most likely move will be to a club that allows him the freedom he desires in the transfer market and one that is already a winner - City are both.

All being said, it is not certain Guardiola will leave the Premier League Champions and therefore Paddy Power have set the odds at 10/3 for Pochettino to join the Manchester club.

However, with a blank cheque in the transfer market, trophies almost a guarantee, whilst the pay will certainly be stellar, it's tough to see him turning this down, should the offer come in.

Mauricio Pochettinno Real Madrid Odds

Real Madrid are another of Europe’s elite to potentially be in the market for a new manager, as Zinedine Zidane’s relationship with the club has reportedly worsened.

Some reports have claimed Los Blancos are considering the idea of possibly replacing Zidane with Pochettino, lowering the odds for the move to 13/2 for the current free agent to join Madrid in the summer.

Interestingly, the move is almost solely based on whether or not Zidane stays at the Bernabeu for another season, as the Frenchman’s success in Europe over recent years (winning three European titles) makes it hard for an argument to be made on the removal of him.

However, it is no secret the relationship between Zidane and Madrid President, Florentino Perez, has not always been the best, with the French legend not exactly agreeing with Perez over club decisions.

With Los Blancos having issues to lure Pochettino away from Tottenham in the past, it is very possible the Spanish giants could offer the former Premier League manager a return to La Liga in the summer, should they choose to replace Zidane.

Last year, before the former player returned to the managerial post, Poch was seen as Madrid's main target. Now, with the Argentine free and, of course, a Spanish speaker, it'll be surprising to see the La Liga giants turn their heads at this one.

Mauricio Pochettino PSG Odds

Lastly, although Paris Saint-Germain have dominated French Ligue 1 football since the Qatar Sports Investment in 2011, Thomas Tuchel has not lived up to the expectations his predecessors failed to succeed in – the Champions League. Europe's elite trophy is the next step any manager at PSG must achieve, as the league title is all but won before the first whistle, due to their incredible squad strength.

The one trophy the Parisian side value the most has evaded them in recent years, with poor runs of form in the competition meaning PSG have not yet got close to any European success. However, with Pochettino a Champions League finalist last year and becoming a free agent, the Qatari owners could seek to offer the Argentine a place in Paris.
