Philippe Coutinho's time at Barcelona has been pretty disastrous from his own standpoint. The Brazilian has still managed to win two La Liga titles, but his entire career in Spain seems to be remembered for coming off the bench for Bayern Munich to score two goals in an 8-2 thrashing against his parent club.
With a fee of €160m making him one of the world's most expensive players, it's fair to say Newcastle are one of the few that can actually afford him now. That price tag won't be negotiated anymore, simply because of Coutinho's form since moving from Liverpool to Barcelona.
Nevertheless, the greed of their owners and the wealth of Newcastle might just make this deal go through at a cheaper margin as at 29 years old, Coutinho remains out of form and in need of a new lease of life away from the toxicity of Barcelona. Moving back to the Premier League where he made a name for himself as a modern great might just be that.
