Five Players West Ham United Could Realistically Sign This Next Window

Michy Batshuayi

Gonzalo Montiel

Rumours have been circulating claiming a move for the River Plate right back Gonzalo Montiel to West Ham United. The club has been linked to the player over the past couple of months for a summer transfer but have been interested in signing him since the January transfer window which unfortunately did not go through.

David Moyes has certainly been scouring the market for a right-back ever since Ryan Fredericks’ injury with offers being made to Nottingham Forest’s Matty Cash, Barcelona’s Moussa Wague and RB Salzburg’s Rasmus Kristensen but unfortunately rejected by all three.

With Jeremy Ngakia not extending his contract, leaving on June 30th, Moyes is out to strengthen his team. Tevez would be a great asset and the club wanted to sign him in the past with a loan fee of £10m back in January. The footballer’s agent has stated a fee of £6.5 million would be enough for West Ham to scoop him up.

Martin Braithwaite

Both West Ham and Everton have been linked with Barcelona forward Martin Braithwaite, who despite only being signed by Barcelona in February is now a free agent. Barca could be selling the striker for £15 million to West Ham, which is a similar price as to what they purchased him for.

Though the Danish footballer is not the most prolific of strikers, he is a good asset which is probably what West Ham see in the player trying to secure him. Though it could be a possibility to reel in Braithwaite, the competition is strong which could force the Hammers to go looking elsewhere.

Ryan Fraser

Ryan Fraser is soon to be a free agent as he’s not signing a new deal with Bournemouth and refused to extend his contract until the new end of the season. Both West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur has jumped on the wagon to try and sign the midfielder.

The Scottish footballer is available on a free transfer which made him an attractive transfer for West Ham, especially given the impact the global health crisis has had on club’s finances. As the Hammers are desperate for a new winger this summer after Felipe Anderson fails yet again to perform, Fraser would be a great asset and is currently their prime summer target.

Another club interested is Arsenal, but it seems more likely West Ham could actually snatch him up as the Gunners' interested has decreased over time.

Alexis Sanchez

Alexis Sanchez's time at an elite Champions League club seems over. The Chilean has been on a downwards spiral ever since he left Arsenal for Manchester United in January 2018 and at 31, no club can really justify his astonishing wage bracket.

The forward is still a United player, having spent the entire season on loan at Inter Milan where he has struggled with injuries throughout and played just 14 Serie A games as a result, scoring just twice.

Sanchez will return to Old Trafford and Ole Gunnar Solskajer has stated he does have a future at United. However, with their front three all young and already on top of their game, it's extremely doubtful he will be a regular.

With this said, West Ham have been heavily linked with him and the Hammers are the Premier League favourites to sign him at 10/3. David Moyes' concern will be his wages, but if this can be negotiated to a reasonable level, perhaps this deal can go through.

Michy Batshuayi

Chelsea outcast Michy Batshuayi is one of the favourites to sign with West Ham. After becoming surplus to requirements at Chelsea due to the signing of RB Leipzig Timo Werner, the Belgian striker could see a move go through across London.

According to reports, the Blues have put a £40 million price tag on Batshuayi with West Ham being the first in line to snatch him up.

The Belgian forward struck a deal with Chelsea back in 2016 up until 2021, but the club is keen to sell him as he’s been struggling for play time in West London and a move to West Ham would give him game time opportunity. The Hammers were originally in line to reel in the player back when he was still in Ligue 1 and it looks now, they’re finally going to get their guy.

Along with West Ham, Newcastle and Palace both keeping tabs on the player. Though the latter is still unwilling to come up with the amount asked for Batshuayi.
