Despite being 26 years old now, Nathan Ake is yet to really establish himself as a true Premier League star. Only seven appearances across five seasons came in the Premier League for Chelsea, a place where it all started out, and it forced a move to Bournemouth where he shone as one of the best in the league outside of the usual big clubs competing for Europe.
A fantastic period with the Cherries under now-Newcastle United boss Eddie Howe would follow and that got him the move to Manchester City. Ake was never going to be the main man under Pep Guardiola, and that was clear to see from day one. However, the signing of Ruben Dias has meant the Dutchman has made just 14 league appearances across two seasons, and although injuries haven't helped, in reality, it didn't change much.
Now, Ake is linked back to rejoin the ranks under Howe where he has played his best football, and moreover, joining Newcastle makes a boatload of sense for a player like him as he is out of favour at City, already got a Premier League and EFL Cup now, and he could well be the man Newcastle seek as their next best thing.
This move could happen. Howe knows how he works, Ake's best days were inside the bottom half, and the Magpies have the money; it all adds up to a transfer that makes complete sense. As of now, the Nathan Ake transfer odds to Newcastle are priced at 3/1.
