Mario Balotelli will once again be on the move this summer, with him set to walk away from Marseille on a free transfer upon the expiry of his contract.
The Italian striker had only been at the Stade Velodrome since January, and actually did pretty well for Les Olympiens. Indeed he managed to score eight times in just 12 appearances for the French giants, but finished the campaign on a sour note by getting sent off in their final day fixture against Montpellier.
He then took to his Instagram page to announce his departure from the club, thanking them for an "amazing" five month stay and wishing them well for the future. That means he is yet another quality player available for free this summer, alongside the likes of Dani Alves and Daniel Sturridge who have also been released by their clubs.
The 28-year-old has rebuilt his career in Ligue 1, initially netting 33 goals in 61 appearances for Nice before moving to Marseille earlier this year. His performances have ensured he is now back in contention for the Italian national team after a three year hiatus, and will surely mean that there will be plenty of interest in him this summer.
But where will the former Manchester City and Liverpool man go next? Despite having done so well in France it looks like he is set to leave Ligue 1 behind, and we have taken a look at the bookmakers odds to see who the favourites to sign the enigmatic Italian are.
Parma favourites to secure Balotelli transfer
The current favourites to sign Balotelli with bookmakers is Serie A side Parma, with William Hill offering 3/1 for him to move to the Stadio Ennio Tardini.
Reports in Italy have been touting this as a potential transfer for a few weeks, with Gazetta di Parma claiming that the club have offered €2 million a year to 'Super Mario'. Having survived in their first season back in Serie A following promotion in 2017/18, Parma would like to push on this season and adding a player of Balotelli's ability would undoubtedly make them much more of a threat next year.
The club's sporting director Daniele Faggiano has admitted that they are interested in the striker, but also warned that they would be battling other outfit's for his signature. He said: "Balotelli is someone we like, and so do many other teams. We're looking at a lot of strikers, but it's not easy."
Whilst the interest is obviously there, it is believed that the player is holding out for a deal worth €4 million a year. That could prove to be to expensive for Parma at this stage, so if they are to sign him he may have to compromise with his wages.
West Ham United and Brescia are also considered potential destinations too according to the odds. The Hammers are second favourites to sign Balotelli at a price of 7/2, whilst Brescia are just behind at 4/1.
Manuel Pellegrini's side would certainly have the finances to get him and are in the market for a new striker with Andy Carroll and Lucas Perez having already left whilst Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez look set to follow. However, it does appear that Salomon Rondon is their first choice centre forward target and not Balotelli.
